DESCRIPTION:
French, Clock / Automaton with Barometer and Thermometer, C.1880. This is a well made and interesting piece, wound through the bottom, and actuated with a pull to the left side which allows the "steam pump" to run for a few minutes, one revolution of the great wheel, then stop. The clock is a souvenir level, oval dial timepiece with cylinder platform.
CONDITION:
The automaton movement is quite dry and with some lint and tries to work, but will need cleaning. The construction is robust with a heavy brass plate accepting all the components, and that plate hinged to a walnut box. The clock movement is dirtier than the pump movement, however appears complete and sound, does not tick, however the balance staff is still intact. Width 12.5", Ht 11.5"
